What information does ConcreteFinder collect?

ConcreteFinder collects the details you enter in a quote request: your name, email, phone number, service, area or postal code, and the project details you choose to share. We do not ask for sensitive information like financial account numbers, and you should never send it to us.

Three things are recorded alongside what you typed: the IP address the request arrived from, the user-agent string your browser sends, and the time you sent it. They are worth naming because they are not tucked away in a separate log. They are stored as part of the request itself and they appear in the email that reaches us. We use them to spot spam and repeated abuse of the form, and for nothing else.

Reading the site sends us nothing. There is nothing on a page that reports back about you. The starter on the home page, which asks what you need done, where and how soon, is the one exception worth naming: choosing from it does not send us anything either. It simply carries those three answers across to the quote form in the web address, and nothing happens until you finish that form and submit it. Vercel, the company that hosts ConcreteFinder, keeps its own standard access logs of requests to the site, as any web host does.

How does ConcreteFinder use your information?

We use the information in your quote request for two things: to read it, and to reply to you about that request. That is the whole list. We do not use it for advertising, we do not add you to a mailing list, and ConcreteFinder does not sell your personal information. The IP address, user-agent and timestamp recorded with your request are used only to spot spam and abuse of the form.

An earlier version of this policy said we use your details to match you with local contractors who can bid on your project. The site does not do that, as the next section explains, and the sentence has been corrected rather than left standing.

Who does ConcreteFinder share your quote details with?

This is important, so we state it plainly. No contractor, no marketer, no lead broker. When you submit a quote request, the details you provided are delivered to ConcreteFinder by email and are held there. They are not forwarded to contractors, not published, and not sold or given to anyone else. An earlier version of this policy said your details were shared with up to three matched contractors. That described something the site does not do, and it has been corrected rather than left standing.

Two service providers do handle your request on its way to us, and naming them is more honest than saying nobody touches it. Vercel hosts the site and runs the code that receives the form. Resend delivers the notification email that code sends. Both carry the full request, including the IP address and user-agent recorded with it. Neither is given it for their own purposes and neither may market to you with it.

The practical consequence is worth being clear about: submitting the form does not put you in front of a contractor. Every company listed on this site publishes its own phone number and website on its profile, and calling them is the only route from this site to a quote.

Does ConcreteFinder use cookies or analytics?

Neither, and we mean that literally. ConcreteFinder sets no cookies at all, not even the ones a policy would normally wave through as essential. The quote form holds your progress in the page while you are filling it in and forgets it the moment you close the tab. An earlier version of this policy claimed essential cookies for exactly that purpose. It was describing something the site does not do.

There is no analytics on this site either. No Google Analytics, no Google Tag Manager, no advertising pixel, no session recorder, no cross-site tracker of any kind. The typefaces are served from this site rather than from Google, so opening a page does not tell anyone else that you were here. If we ever add analytics, we will update this policy first and name the tool. Because we do not track you across the web, there is no advertising profile of you to opt out of.

How does ConcreteFinder handle business listing data?

Our directory lists businesses using public information, such as company names, addresses, phone numbers, ratings and reviews sourced from Google Maps and business websites. For most companies that is public business data rather than private personal data. For a one-person business the line is thinner: a mobile number, or a home address used as the business address, can be personal information under PIPEDA as well. We treat a request from either kind of business the same way.

No business asked to be listed here. Every entry was compiled from a public record, so if you own one and want it corrected or taken down, email hello@concretefinder.ca with the business name and what you want changed. Removal is unconditional: there is nothing to buy and nothing to cancel, and we do not ask for anything in return. We process removal and correction requests, usually within 2 business days. What are your privacy rights under PIPEDA?

Under PIPEDA you can ask what personal information ConcreteFinder holds about you, request a copy, ask us to correct it, and withdraw your consent to our use of it. To exercise any of these rights, email us and we will respond within a reasonable time, generally 2 business days for a first reply. Because your request is not passed to contractors and not sold on, the copy in our inbox is the one that matters, and asking us is enough. The hosting and email providers named above hold only what is needed to carry the message to us.

How does ConcreteFinder comply with CASL?

Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL) governs commercial email. ConcreteFinder runs no mailing list and sends you no automated email at all. Submitting the quote form triggers at most one message, and it goes to ConcreteFinder rather than to you, so do not wait on a confirmation that is not coming. If you hear back, it is a person answering your request by hand. We do not send marketing newsletters or promotional blasts. If we ever introduce optional marketing email, it will be strictly opt-in with a clear unsubscribe link in every message, as CASL requires.

How does ConcreteFinder store and retain your data?

There is no customer database behind this site. A submitted quote request is not written to a record you could log in and see; it is delivered as an email and it lives in the ConcreteFinder mailbox. That copy is the only one we hold. We keep it while we are dealing with your request and afterwards as our record of it, and we delete it if you ask us to. We have not set a fixed deletion date, and we would rather say so here than publish a retention period we do not actually enforce.

Where that information physically sits is worth stating rather than glossing. The site is hosted by Vercel. The code that receives the quote form runs on a Vercel server in the United States, so your request leaves Canada the moment you press send. The notification email is delivered by Resend, whose data processing agreement states that its primary processing operations take place in the United States. Mail sent to our address is received through Forward Email, our inbound mail provider. If having your details handled outside Canada is not acceptable to you, do not use the form: phone the contractor directly using the number on their profile.

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect the information we hold, though no method of transmission over the internet is perfectly secure.
